This paradise is for the elites that wholeheartedly trust and believe that God will help them live peacefully through the war between Jamaica #1 and Jamaica #2.

Jamaica is indeed not a real place if we are talking about certain happenings. Jamaica can be just a piece of land with fantasy ideals. You can create your own Jamaica. I know did.

DJ KHALED IS THE HONORARY YARD MAN

Am I the only one in love with DK Khaled's collaboration with some of Jamaica's most renkowned musical artistes? Oh you are too? Let's talk.

DJ Khaled oftentimes go against the status quo musically. Where as some producers might choose to release projects with the current hitmakers and chart toppers, Sir Khaled intentionally seeks for talent. A hitmaker understands that he has the power to do the right thing musically and he does.

HOLY MOUNTAIN

Buju Banton (real name Mark Myrie) is no stranger to the Billboard charts. He serves up some lyrics on "Holy Mountain" that I never would have expected. I can hear that this a man who has been through life's trials and testing as he sings "tormented soul tormented soul go away from me... hypocrites and Jezebels dance to the devil's delight".

The way the beat drops and switch up with that heavy baseline makes for a enriched confusion at first listen. I listened again while taking in the visuals from the song's video and I can tell that everyone put their all into making this gem. The comments from the naysayers couldn't shake my approval. 

Now let's talk about 070 Shake. How am I just hearing her voice? Pain, faith and passion screams on the chorus "...said I wouldn't make it I was being tested". That is it! Even the wealthiest of people go through a phase of resistance. 070 Shake sounds as if she's happy that she stuck around and faced whatever it was she was going through. #Godaprotect 

Mavado cries: "protect mi son Jah". We all have a god in our lives. I don't know which god he was singing to but I can tell that help was necessary in his personal life. Turns out that Mavado's son who is a minor was convicted for a crime and sentenced to prison in the beautiful 'Home Of Alright'.

THIS OR THAT

There are so many debates about how one should emerge after the corona virus pandemic. It is impossible to expect EVERYONE should have learnt a new skill or documented a business idea. My reality is different from that of another person even if we share commonalities or live in the same house. In fact, live alone so I have the freedom of doing whatever I want. I have a good friend who also lives alone but he is the father of two children.

Yes we should hold each other to higher standards. However we shouldn't have to force our expectations on others or ridicule them. We can however hope that things will be better for each individual.

Growing up I used to hear the adults say: "seven brothers seven different minds".

With all the injustice plaguing the "tallawah" island of Jamaica I wonder if the powers that be ever question themselves and ask: "Am I a part of that problem?"

For too long we have embraced garrison communities. For too long we have nurtured the life of poverty as if it is something to be proud of. How can someone not feel emotional when they see the squalor that our citizens live in?

No use in complaining if I can't offer a solution. I am doing my part little by little to try and encourage people to believe that they deserve a better life. It all starts with knowing our identity.

Confessions of a Blogger

This is me:

1. I have a 9-5: Blogging for some folks is a full time job that pays the bills. Not so for me. Especially since I am on the more boring end of the North Coast where scammers riding "John Crows" (motorbikes) on Market Street is cool. Point is, there isn't much of a social scene to talk about.

2. New Creature: I got baptized August of this year and my first focus is on the Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone and everything else comes after.

3. Malfunctioning Laptop: It is easier to churn out the words in my head if I was infront of a computer screen. For now my trusty Smartphone has been doing the job.

4. Youtube: I actually like recording random things and posting them on Youtube unedited.

5. Foodie: I am big on cooking and trying new cuisines.

Identity Crisis

I Am The One

Welcome to the Thunderdome! I really wanted to start this blog off with a bang of a statement. Why do I need to do this? No reasons, it just feels right.

Let me mention a few things on my mind.

I need to spend at least one week in Mexilandia (Mexico) so I can indulge in the delicious tacos and get stared at while doing so. I seldom get stared at in Jamaica so that bit of attention will do some good.

My Limited Edition Ernst Benz Mario Batali Chronoscope is keeping my wrist happy and feeling sexy. Having a pricey Swiss timepiece is a dream come true. My other dream timepieces are Hublot and Audemars Piguet.

The Mexicans on my social networks are having a fit about their National team being eliminated. They really need to relax. I can not imagine being addicted to any type of sport, or to anything, to be quite frank.

With that being said, I must end this with a bang.

WHAT'S IN A NAME? PART I

What's in a name? This is a question we seldom ask ourselves. I was lucky to have visited the U.S.A. and have lived in Mexico; two North American territories. I have heard so many names and seen so many faces that it is unbelievable!

I can safely speak for most Jamaicans that whenever they hear a particular first and last name combination they immediately picture a certain face, complexion, attire, among other descriptive elements. CLEANING OUT MY CLOSET AT WORK - PART I

There comes a day in your life where you have to separate work from home. It is not unheard of to have a loving friendship with coworkers. Keep in mind you spend most of your day with these people so eventually you will find the need to confide in an individual who is willing to listen and who shows empathy and compassion. You might discuss situations at home or situations at work, whether it be good or bad. But how trusting can you be that whoever you confide in will use that information against you in order to advance professionally? Especially if you are in an extremely competitive job.

Strange Fruit

This post is not about the famous Billie Holiday song. I am going to introduce you to a rare and refreshing fruit of of a name unbeknownst to me, hence the title, "strange fruit". It is a cross between pineapple and watermelon. I had the pleasure of tasting it a few months ago and I found it yesterday on a fruit vendor's cart in the main Falmouth market in Trelawny. I don't know in which areas of Jamaica it is grown but I intend to find out. The piece pictured was fresh with no hint of sugar. Needless to say it was delicious and served its purpose on a quiet and hot Saturday afternoon.

Valentine's Day has passed! Thank heavens!

I do not claim to be the most fashion forward or trendy, however, I do know what suits my body and personality. With that in mind I would like to mention a brand that has been receiving rave reviews from some close acquaintances of mine.

Bridget Sandals is a footwear designer house hailing from the glorious Caribbean island of Jamaica that has been around for a couple of decades. I understand that they are not mass produced therefore it will be harder for you to have a "twin" when you go to any social event.
